Cleaning up room…

I am a neat-freak and like things to be organized, well who doesnt? However, I go to an extreme sometimes. I buy organizers from Ikea and Home Sense so I have space for things like glasses and broaches as well. I dont like when lot of things are pushed into one drawer, things need to be organized so it does not look messy.

When it takes a long time to clean up your room, it means you have lot of stuff in your room. Try to give away stuff or atleast pack some stuff away. For example, winter clothings should be packed away in Summer. Its nice to have more space in your room so you can breathe freely or even do Yoga comfortably. And its definitely nice to give away stuff, this way another person can make worth of your buck.

I love all my things (i.e. shoes, clothing, jewellery) and I tend to hold on to them for way too long.  I live in a small townhome and the closets aren’t that big. So this weekend, my goal is to fix my room, make it lighter. Yesterday I bought some vacuum bags from Walmart, where you can fold clothings, suck the air out of the bag so it makes it a small bag, I wonder if I should buy some more.

Lets see how many bags of stuff I will be giving out and how many bags i will be sucking the air out of. I will post before and after pics of my closet. Ciao!

Acne is natural…

I had a clear face all my life. I would always feel bad for people who had pimples and wondered how they got it. Maybe they did not clean their face properly or did not shower everyday. I never understood til my best friend (in high-school) got it. She would complain all the time and be always self-conscious. I wouldn’t understand and when she told me that I would only understand if I had them. Hmmm, mean thing to say but the truth is, its true. We will never understand how other feels until we go through it. I am not cursing anyone here but its actually true.

My acne started last year when I got some construction completed at my new place. First, I got bronchitis and then my face started to fill up with pimples. I tried expensive products from Shoppers Drug mart to Sephora and then started taking Minocin and then Solugel (an antibiotics prescribed by the dermatologist), but did not help. Last thing was Acutane but I could not take those after hearing some major side effects.

One Sunday afternoon, I saw a PROACTIVE commercial and after a lot of research, I bought Proactive the next weekend, since there was a money back guarantee. It costed close to $100 for five week supply. I used it for 6 months, and it didn’t start working til the 2nd month. An important rule is, to use Proactive religiously. Pimples started to decrease. It has now been 6 months and my pimples have stopped completely (knock wood). However, the marks are still there, some are light red and some dark brown. It looks bad when I don’t have make up on, but its a big improvement from before since I had too many bumps with pimples in a different stages. Yuck…

After a lot of research I came across Microdermabrasion to remove scars and/or lighten them. So I bought a package of 6 treatments at a spa so lets see how that works.

I also started their product called PCA skin care because of two reasons. 1 – proactive was 90% done and I have to buy more . 2- the skin specialist advised, if I don’t use their products, the treatments will work slower. The products costed me a little over 420 bucks and apparently it is supposed to last for 3-4 months, which will be $100 a month.  These products are from states and have great reviews online. Check it out when you have time.

Will provide you feedback soon. Ciao.

Renting a cottage…

I am so glad that summer is finally here because its BBQ, cottage, and swimming time for me. I am planning a cottage with 9 other people this summer and have been researching for a 4-5 bedroom cottage. It’s a hectic process I tell you. We have been cottaging for about four years now, the group started with 4 people and now its 10 in total. Its fun with all of them, but I think more than this would be hard to manage.

Anyways, lets talk regarding the research. There are so many websites that one can use when renting cottages in Ontario. Here is a list of them that I have used in the past years:

 www.ontariocottagerentals.com
www.cottagecountry.com/ontario
www.clrm.ca
www.cottagerental.com
www.cottageportal.com
www.ontariocottage.com

This year, I used two different websites which everyone has heard of Craigslist and Kijiji. They were really helpful and informative. I found people responded quicker to emails this year or maybe everyone has become techy and used their smartphones to respond.

Few tips to keep in mind:

  1. Try to google the cottage owners to make sure they are legit. If its possible, make the deal in person (i.e. signing the contract).
  2. Try googling the address and see how the front looks like comparison to the pictures provided on the websites.
  3. Always get in writing when paying an initial deposit i.e. Rental Contract.
  4. The security deposit should not be more than the rent of the cottage. If it is, one needs to ask why.
  5. Emergency numbers of the owners are very important.
  6. Take pictures when after arriving and before departing the cottage.
  7. Arrive at the cottage in light versus the when dark.
  8. Nice beaches or lake or river near you, that’s what makes it fun.
  9. Ask what is not provided at the cottage i.e. linens, paper rolls, paper towels.
  10. Lastly, ask questions… Don’t annoy them, try to make a list and email

If there is something I missed and you think is important, let me know, so I can add on to the list. This will not only make a stress-free vacation but a memorable trip.

Back to my research – I have finally found a 4 bedroom cottage in Muskoka near a river. It sounds positive so hopefully everything goes well and then I can concentrate on other things since this research has been taking a lot of my time. It’s not easy so start early because everything gets booked pretty quick in summer. I wish you all the best in your cottage research.

Adios Amigos!

I have finally started blogging…

Hello Everyone,

This is my first blog at wordpress.com, and I am very excited. Hopefully I will post something everyday since I have lots to say on a daily basis. My blog will have all sorts of information such as, advices, tips, investigations and information regarding my life. Keep in mind, I am not promoting or endorsing any products or services. I am an individual in my early-twenties and work in a Financial sector. I love eating chocolates, working for my company, and travelling to different countries. My favourite quote is ‘Winners never Quit, and Quitters never win.’

The highlights for my last weekend was the IIFA Buzz. IIFA stands for International Indian Film Academy, as my friends would call the Bollywood Oscars.

1. On Friday June 24th, I went to see Shahrukh Khan (the famous actor in India) at Nathans Phillip Square where he was awarded by Rob Ford (Toronto’s Mayor). Shahrukh looked cute and handsome as always and was kind enough to go around to take pictures and give autographs. The thing I didnt like was, Torontonians went crazy when they saw him. Most of the people started jumping and pushing which finally broke down the fences that were holding the public to see Shahrukh Khan. One of my best friends who is pregnant was pushed, and she ended up pushing me, and I fell on Shahrukh’s chest. It was so cool for one second, but when I saw his face, he looked pissed because he was in pain (due to his recent knee surgery). I backed up and gave him the space but I cant believe I fell on Shahrukh Khan’s chest.

2. On Saturday June 25th, I went to the IIFA Awards, as mentioned before, its similar to Oscars. Most of the awards went to Dabangg (Indian movie), where the actor is Salman Khan (my all-time favourite). However, Salman never showed up to this event (the main reason I bought the tickets for). Anyways, Awards was supposed to start at 7:00 PM but it actually started at 9:00 PM and finished at 2:30 AM. It was a really long night. I slept til 2 pm on Sunday.

Both were a great experience and something I will never ever forget especially the fall on the most famous star, but Torontonians disappointed me. I just want to say, these celebrities are not Gods they are just people like us with more money and fame. Ha.

Well take care for now. Will write soon.
